Sailing Education Adventures has received the More than 10 Years of Hallmark Performance Award for 2004 by US Sailing’s Community Sailing Counsel. This award is given annually to a program that has made notable contributions to promote public access sailing for ten years or more. Sailing Education Adventures (SEA) has been dedicated to promoting community sailing for adults and children through affordable instruction and related educational and social activities for more than 20 years. This award is in recognition of SEA’s valuable contributions to the community and the strength of its efforts by its staff, its Board of Directors, and its many volunteers.

Additionally, Sail Camp, offered by Sailing Education Adventures (SEA) and the Marin Yacht Club, provide an excellent non-competitive learn-to-sail program for children ages 8 to 16. The program is dedicated to building self-esteem in a fun environment that promotes seamanship and the appreciation of the Bay. Sail Camp was awarded the Admiral Nimitz trophy for most improved junior sailing program in the Bay Area by the Pacific Inter-Club Yachting Association (PICYA) for 2004.

SEA prides itself on its outreach efforts to the entire community. “Camperships” (camp scholarships) for kids that otherwise could not afford to participate in Sail Camp are made available through grants and fundraising. Sail Camp fosters teamwork, self-reliance, and self-confidence; skills that directly transfer to the challenges of the real world.

Camp Clipper is a program started in 2004 through the joint efforts of SEA, America True, Performing Stars, Fish (a Sausalito restaurant) and Clipper Yacht Harbor. This is an outreach program for at-risk youth in the Bay Area. The program is designed to build and strengthen children’s confidence, leadership abilities, and sense of responsibility. Eight scholarships were awarded during the first year to some area children, who otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate in sailing.
